Bequests – Donations Inter Vivos – Life Insurance

But you can leave a legacy of medical excellence.

Michèle has never practiced medicine. But by leaving a portion of her estate to the American Hospital of Paris, she is helping ensure that the medical excellence she has always known will continue to advance and benefit future generations.

Questions & Answers

How do I make a bequest to the American Hospital of Paris?

Based on your wishes and family situation, different options are available such as a bequest, life insurance or donation inter vivos. Do not hesitate to contact our Planned Giving Manager and Civil Law Notary. He is available to answer your questions and offer estate planning guidance. Consultations are strictly confidential and aim to protect the best interests of you and your loved ones, with no obligation.

What assets can I include in my legacy gift?

Your legacy gift may include vacant or occupied immovable property such as a condominium, house, land, farm or commercial property, or movable property including furniture, jewelry, cash, stock portfolios, bonds or copyrights.

Do I need to write a will and hire a notary?

To ensure your wishes are respected, it is important to write a will and designate a universal legatee, who will be in charge of settling your estate. Your will must be entrusted to a notary, who will add it to France’s national registry of wills.

Is my will permanent?

Whether your will is holographic or notarized, it can be modified at any time and as often as you deem necessary. To ensure that only the most recent version of your will is taken into account, always begin your will with the following statement "I revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions and declare this to be my last will and testament."

Why do I need to designate a universal legatee if I don’t have children?

In the absence of heirs, you are required to designate a universal legatee to oversee the estate settlement process. Otherwise, your estate cannot be settled. Planning your estate and drafting a will allow you to retain the freedom to make your own decisions throughout your lifetime.

Do I need to inform the American Hospital of Paris of my intention to leave a legacy gift?

You are not required to inform the Hospital, but we advise you to do so. Not only will this help ensure your wishes are respected, it will also allow you to immediately join the Ellen Evans Society and begin enjoying the many advantages of this recognition program.
